Holiday Toffee, Almond, & Sea Salt Bar: what TilliT checked so far, below
Paying TilliT changes how fast a check is reviewed and how much help a merchant gets — it never changes a result. Only new evidence does. This assessment ran the identical automated methodology whether or not this merchant has ever worked with TilliT.

Not yet checked by TilliT2 claims
This is a real certification or claim type, but TilliT doesn't verify it yet. It is shown here so you know the product makes the claim — not as a judgement either way. Check it yourself using the note next to each one.
- What is this?
Kosher
On the page: “Non-GMO, Certified Gluten Free, and Kosher Dairy. It is also dairy free, soy”
What it means: A kosher-certifying agency has reviewed the product against Jewish dietary law, usually with on-site rabbinical supervision.
Why TilliT doesn't verify it: Kosher certification is granted by independent agencies (OU, OK, Star-K, KOF-K and others). TilliT doesn't verify the kosher claim itself. (It does read the Orthodox Union's product data on some checks, but only as an indirect signal for a dairy-free claim — never to confirm kosher status.)
How to check it yourself: Look for the certifying agency's symbol on the package (a letter mark such as OU, OK, Star-K or KOF-K), then search that agency's online product database for the brand.
- What is this?
Direct trade
On the page: “product is certified USDA Organic, Direct Trade Certified, Non-GMO, Certified Gluten”
What it means: The company states it buys directly from producers rather than through the commodity market.
Why TilliT doesn't verify it: "Direct trade" is a company-defined sourcing model, not a single certified standard (unlike Fair Trade, which TilliT does check — see the badge section).
How to check it yourself: Read the company's own sourcing page for details on which producers and what prices.
Outside TilliT's checks1 claim
These are marketing or nutrition-label descriptions rather than independently certified claims, so they aren't something TilliT verifies.
- What is this?
Cold-pressed / Unrefined / Stone-ground
On the page: “dressed up for the holidays! Perfectly unrefined 60% dark stone ground organic chocolate”
What it means: A description of how the product was made.
Why TilliT doesn't verify it: These are process descriptions with no certified definition for most foods.
How to check it yourself: Ask the maker what the term means for this specific product.

Supply chain & sourcing
Who makes and moves this product, and where it comes from, from public sources only. It's background context, not evidence for or against any badge claim.
- The seller's own informationThe brand's own statement
The brand's own website says it uses its own facilities. This is general company background; it does not establish where this specific product is made.
“ne ground chocolate from bean to bar in Somerville, MA, using traditional Mexican stone mills called molinos. These hand-carved stones prese”
What this means: This is the seller's own statement about where the product comes from. It is useful context, but it has not been independently checked.
Open source - The seller's own informationBrand sourcing / ingredients page
The brand publishes a page about its own suppliers / sourcing. This is the company's own account of its supply chain — worth reading, but not an independently verified supplier list.
What this means: This is the seller's own statement about where the product comes from. It is useful context, but it has not been independently checked.
Open source - Community database (not audited)Open Food Facts
Open Food Facts (a free, community-maintained product database — not a certifier or official registry) records, for one product listed under the brand 'Taza Chocolate' (not matched by name to the assessed product — other products from this brand may differ): manufacturing/processing place "Massachusetts, Somerville, USA".
What this means: A community-maintained product database (anyone can edit it, and it is not audited) lists sourcing or origin details for this product. TilliT treats it as a lead worth showing, not as proof.
Open source - Government-hosted recordEPA ECHO (facility compliance history)
US EPA facilities whose registered name matches 'Taza Chocolate' have 1 record(s) in the EPA's Enforcement and Compliance History Online (ECHO) database, including 0 inspection(s).
What this means: The manufacturer's facilities show up in the US EPA's environmental compliance database by name, but have no inspections on record there. This is general company background and does not bear on any badge claim.
